The Spring Weather is not far off and with this comes the start of the 2011 / 2012 Tennis Season. The season got off to a good start with a very productive working bee with lots of tasks completed and the Club Rooms and surrounds are now looking sharp. Thanks goes out to those who turned out. Our Open Day was held on Sunday 28th August and the weather turned it on for a great afternoons tennis. We have seven senior interclub teams entered this season. The teams include in the singles Mens Second Grade and Mens 6 and in the Womens , Womens 2,3 & 4. In the Presidents Grade we have an Open 1 and 5 teams. Given some of the grading we will be expecting several teams to come close to taking out their grade. A reminder for all seniors to complete their registration forms and pay their subs to Turu or Paula or complete it online. We all hope the Seniors have a good season and enjoy their tennis.
The Junior Open Days for registration and to kick of the Season will be held from 4pm to 7pm on the 8th and 15th of September 2011. All existing and new junior members are encouraged to attend as interclub teams are required to be entered by the 19th September. If anyone has any queries regarding the Juniors please contact Turu or Terry Daniel on Ph 268 9171.
PRESIDENTS REPORT
Yes it is that time of the year again with the days getting longer to get the racket out and warm up for the new 2011/2012 Season. The AGM was held in July and it was good to see a good turn out and most of the officer position filled. We are however still looking for a Vice President and someone to take on the Interclub Controller Role to lessen the burden on Turu. The Season kicks off on Saturday 20th August with a Club Working Bee ,which all members are encouraged to attend to give a hand to spruce up the Club before the Season starts. Our Open Day will be held on Sunday 28 th August at 1pm to officially start the NEW season and I hope we get a good turn out. Members are reminded to bring a plate for afternoon tea. The selectors have been busy putting teams together for Senior Interclub with the games staring on the 10th or
17th September. Players will be contacted by their Team Captains soon who will arrange practices and advise when you will be playing your first game.Junior Interclub is to start in Term 4 and there will further information provided when the Juniors will start soon.
